Craig, Winston J. “Health Effects of Vegan Diets1,2,3.” AJCN. N.p., 2009. Web. 30 Oct. 2015.

I found this source by limiting the domain to .org sites for credibility. I used the search term “vegetarian diet problems” which led me to this great source. The site is credible because it is a journal all about nutrition, published and created for nutritional research. The site does seem to have bias, and this source Espessially does not have bias as it explains all of the good reasons for the diet, but the possible concerns. It is very informative and in depth.

I found this source by limiting the domain to government sites only, and then typing in “benefits of vegetarian diets”. This site is credible because it comes from the US National Library of Medicine, used by doctors statewide to stay informed on the latest medical news. The article dates back to 2005 which raises some red flags, but this topic doesn’t have any changing information. The article specifies in the title that it wants to discuss the advantages, yet does it in a way that doesn’t maintain bias. It does it’s job informing about benefits, but doesn’t say anything in a one sided way… If that makes sense at all… It does call out some studies that had been done that proved vegetarian diets to be bad. It explained that vegetarians must maintain a very wide array of foods to be sure you are well nourished. These studies in particular used very narrow and not good diet choices that seemed to show a lack of nutrients. This is very interesting and worth looking in to.

  1. Those are great sources John!!

You’ve essentially found two scholarly articles online, which is great because scholarly sources can provide some of the best information. I am not at all concerned with the credibility of the articles, they are scholarly articles and that alone makes them credible. As far as the websites go, they look good as well. The first is copyrighted by the American Society for Nutrition which is certainly a credible organization when it comes to nutrition. Your second website might be even better yet, a scholarly article from the U.S. National Library of Medicine is certainly credible. This government agency isn’t going to keep just anything on file, anything they have archived can almost immediately be assumed to be credible.

Excellent job in finding these sources!
